Help Develop Employees or Lose Them
Updated: Jan 29
A key role as a manager is to develop your employees. It is part of your job to help them grow and make sure they are learning the skills they need to get to where they want to go. Here are 3 simple ways to develop your employees:
Provide them Interesting and Challenging Work- Don't just assign your employees busy work or things you don't want to do. Give them the opportunity to be challenged. Give them goals that are within reach, but not too easy to obtain. Explain the benefits of learning and help them get to the next level.
Involve them in Decision Making- Encourage their ideas and opinions and ask for their help in developing plans. When your employees feel like you are living out their ideas, they are more likely to want to be involved and see them succeed.
Praise the Behavior You Want to See- Make sure your employees know their work is being appreciated. Let them know specifically what they are doing right, so they will repeat that behavior in the future.
